This is my Synology gear:
At the moment I own two synologies, but I am planing to buy a third very soon.
Synology DS713+:
Synology DiskStation 2-Bay (Diskless) Network Attached Storage DS713+ (affiliate link)
and the 4GB RAM upgrade I did:
*Memory upgrade will most likely void the warranty.
Kingston Value RAM 4GB 1333MHz PC3-10600 DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 SODIMM SR X8 Notebook Memory (KVR13S9S8/4) (affiliate link)
and my backup unit is a Synology DS216+:

And the upgraded RAM:
*Memory upgrade will most likely void the warranty
Crucial 8GB Single DDR3/DDR3L 1600 MT/S (PC3-12800) Unbuffered SODIMM 204-Pin Memory – CT102464BF160B (affiliate link)
For Hard drives, I use Western Digital 3TB Red NAS and I have 5, 2 for each NAS and a spare in case a hard drive goes down.
Love this disks, In my 713+ NAS I have had them for 10+ years and no failures yet.
It is important that you choose the RED CAVIAR NAS as the disks will be running 24/7 if you are powering a website from your NAS.
WD Red 3TB NAS Hard Drive – 5400 RPM Class, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache, 3.5″ – WD30EFRX (affiliate link)
You can also buy the NAS as a bundle (NAS and disks). In this case, make sure you buy it with the red caviar drives on it. You wont regret it!
And my latest acquisition: A synology DS918+:

Equipped with 4x10TB WD Red Drives:

I also have the Synology router which makes managing your network and configuring your VPN painless and easy:

Hello,
I checked the reviews for Syn DS918+ and they come with 4GB of RAM and it says it is expandable to 8GB.
Is there a mistake on your review or were you able to change that to 2x8GB of RAM which adds to 16GB?

In the official docs it says expandable to 8GB but at your own risk (I have done it), you can expand it to 16GB.

I have a DS713+ with 2 Seagate IronWolf 8TB drives with the stock RAM. Did you see a big improvement with the increased RAM?

Hi Ruth, I have a DS713+ and would like to upgrade the ram. There are some reports of 4gb modules causing cpu issues, as per this link: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/68242/processor-usage-increases-with-4gb-ram-installed
Does the D2700 CPU cope with a single stick of 4gb ram? Did you notice any cpu spikes?
I suspect that only double ranked memory is supported?
Thanks in advance!
