NAS server

Having issues with your ssl certificate when sharing gofile.me? Here is how to solve it.

Are you having issues sharing your gofile.me files after you installed the SSL certificate on you NAS?

Here is how to solve it.

I have had issues with this for months! It was driving me crazy. Without going into detail as to why this is happening, I want to share the solution to you.

When you create a share file you will get a link that you use to share with others. The link will look like this:

http://gofile.me/2kEOD/9XHoAfbE0

If you have a SSL certificate install you might get this warning message:

_____________________________________________________________________________
This site is not secure
This might mean that someone’s trying to fool you or steal any info you send to the server. You should close this site immediately.

The hostname in the website’s security certificate differs from the website you are trying to visit.

Error Code: DLG_FLAGS_SEC_CERT_CN_INVALID

Go on to the webpage (not recommended)

____________________________________________________________________________

To avoid getting that error, the only thing you need to do is to share the link as https.

Hope this tip is helpful!

  1. This tip actually helped me to resolve an error with gofile.me links where they would report “Unable to download file(s)”. I tried numerous solutions offered on the Synology forums but none worked.I came across this page when searching for gofile.me and shared links. I was pleasantly surprised that using https:// instead of http:// actually resulted in the file being presented for download instead of getting the error message! Thanks
