I installed the Synology Antivirus Essential, but I have to admit that I have never done anything with it. Quite silly, right?
Last week I got an update, so after it was done, I checked the app.
Let’s take a look.
On the overview tab, you can check the status of the scans.
Let’s look at Update first, you need to make sure that your virus definitions are up to date:
Next Schedule scan. Yes, you can schedule virus scans like on any computer:
To schedule a scan:
- Select the type
- the date and save:
On the settings tab you can specify:
- What to do with the infected files
- Select files you dont want to be scanned
- Specify which types of files to be scanned
- and Update the virus definition before scanning
If you move the files to Quarantine, you can view them here:
And finally, you can review the status of the scans:

The full scan is taking nearly 4 weeks (!!) now and is still only at 84%.
